Vodafone Pro 4 broadband review. Is 8Gbps worth it?
Vodafone Pro 4 is for households that want very fast full fibre, strong whole-home Wi-Fi and a back-up connection if the main service goes down. Its top package reaches up to 8Gbps, and includes the Ultra Hub 7+ Wi-Fi 7 router, up to three Super WiFi Boosters and automatic 4G backup. This review explains what you get, how the technology works and whether Pro 4’s price makes sense for your household.

Who will Vodafone Pro 4 suit?
Pro 4 will suit a busy home where several people stream, game, work and make video calls at the same time. The full-fibre connection has room for large downloads and uploads, while the Wi-Fi 7 router and mesh boosters help carry the connection around the property.
You’ll get most from it if you regularly move large files, back up devices to the cloud or run several demanding tasks at once. The 8Gbps top package is more speed than most households need today, but the router, boosters and 4G back-up make this a fuller home broadband service than a speed figure alone suggests.
What does 8Gbps mean in practice?

Pro 4’s top package offers up to 8Gbps for downloads and uploads. That gives a household plenty of capacity for large file transfers, cloud backups and several people using the connection heavily at once.
Your phone or laptop won’t normally reach 8Gbps on its own. The device, its Wi-Fi connection and the service you’re using all affect its speed. A wired device also needs a multi-gigabit network port to use more than 1Gbps of the connection.
Can you get Pro 4 at your address?
Vodafone Pro 4 runs over CityFibre full fibre, so availability depends on the network at your address. Visit the Vodafone Pro broadband page for further information, or enter your postcode in the Vodafone Pro coverage checker below. It’ll show whether Pro 4 is available at your address. If it isn’t, you’ll see the other providers and packages you can get in your area.
CityFibre, XGS-PON and multi-gigabit broadband
CityFibre uses XGS-PON fibre technology to support multi-gigabit broadband. In March 2026, they announced an 8.5Gbps wholesale product that internet providers can use on their network. Vodafone Pro 4 is a separate retail package, offering speeds up to 8Gbps over CityFibre full fibre.
What is XGS-PON?
XGS-PON is a fibre access technology. It carries broadband data over fibre and gives providers a network that can support multi-gigabit packages.
Our XGS-PON guide explains how the technology works.
Ultra Hub 7+ router specifications
The Ultra Hub 7+ is Vodafone’s tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router for Pro 4. It supports a maximum wired speed of 10Gbps and gives compatible devices access to the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz Wi-Fi bands.
- Wi-Fi standard: Wi-Fi 7.
- Wi-Fi bands: 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz.
- Router speed capability: up to 10Gbps, according to Vodafone.
- Included with: Vodafone Pro 4, subject to availability at your address.
Wi-Fi 7 is the latest Wi-Fi standard. It can make better use of available wireless capacity when the router and connected devices support it. Your older phones, laptops and smart-home devices will still connect, but they won’t gain Wi-Fi 7 features unless they support the standard.
What is Wi-Fi 7?
Wi-Fi 7 is a newer wireless networking standard designed to move data faster and handle busy home networks more efficiently. You need a Wi-Fi 7 router and a compatible device to use its newer features.
Our Wi-Fi 7 vs Wi-Fi 6 guide explains the differences between the two standards.
Vodafone’s help page says Pro customers must use a Vodafone router. Keep the supplied Ultra Hub 7+ connected to use Vodafone’s boosters and app-based speed information, and to run the full-fibre phone service.
Super WiFi Boosters come with Pro 4
Pro 4 includes up to three Super WiFi Boosters at no extra cost. They’re mesh devices that pair with the Ultra Hub 7+ and extend the same Wi-Fi network into rooms where the router’s signal is weaker.
Place a mesh booster where it can still receive a good signal from the router, usually between the router and the room with poor reception.
What is a mesh Wi-Fi booster?
A mesh booster extends your router’s Wi-Fi coverage. Your devices stay on the same network as you move around the property.
Vodafone’s Super WiFi Booster explainer shows how mesh Wi-Fi works. Vodafone’s Wi-Fi Guarantee can provide additional boosters when their coverage test finds signal or throughput below 10Mbps in a room. If coverage still falls short after all three boosters, the terms allow you to leave without an early termination fee if you contact Vodafone within 30 days of receiving the final booster.
4G Broadband Back-Up
Pro 4 includes 4G Broadband Back-Up, a dongle that plugs into the supplied Ultra Hub 7+. If the full-fibre service goes down, it switches your connection to Vodafone’s 4G mobile network, with 100GB of data each month.
The dongle is there to keep everyday browsing and work online while the fibre service is repaired. It doesn’t carry Vodafone Digital Voice calls, including emergency calls, so keep a mobile phone or another way to contact emergency services available.
Vodafone Digital Voice and VoIP
Vodafone’s optional Digital Voice home-phone service uses VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol. Calls travel over your broadband connection through the Ultra Hub 7+, rather than over a traditional copper phone line.
What is VoIP?
VoIP carries voice calls over an internet connection. With Vodafone Digital Voice, your home phone connects through the Vodafone router and uses your broadband to make and receive calls.
Digital Voice is optional. Vodafone’s terms say phone calls, including emergency calls, won’t work through the 4G back-up dongle. If you choose the phone service, keep the Ultra Hub 7+ connected and have another way to contact emergency services if the broadband connection fails.
Smart Modes, Secure Net Home and support

Pro 4 includes Smart Modes, Secure Net Home and 90 days of Broadband Xpert support. Together, they cover device priority, online security and help with your Wi-Fi during the first three months.
Smart Modes are controls in the My Vodafone app. They let you prioritise devices for work, gaming or streaming, so you can choose what gets the strongest Wi-Fi performance.
Secure Net Home is Vodafone’s built-in online security and parental-control service. It’s included at no extra cost with Pro packages and can cover up to 192 connected devices.
Broadband Xperts provide 90 days of connection monitoring and daily support to help sort out Wi-Fi issues.
Vodafone Pro 4 price and contract
Vodafone Pro 4 starts from £31 a month on a 24-month contract. The monthly price rises to £34 from 1 April 2027 and £38 from 1 April 2028. Eligible Vodafone Together customers can save £4 a month when they combine Pro broadband with a Pay monthly mobile package.
Check the order summary for the monthly price, any setup charge and the price-change dates that apply to your order. Vodafone’s terms set out the scheduled increases during the contract.
Should you choose Vodafone Pro 4?
Vodafone Pro 4 will suit a large, connected household that can make use of very fast uploads and downloads, whole-home Wi-Fi and a back-up connection. It’s a strong fit if several people are online at once or you regularly move large files.
If your household mainly browses, streams and makes the occasional video call, a lower-speed Vodafone package will probably give you better value. Compare the total cost and features with packages available at your address. For the wider picture, read our Vodafone broadband review.
- Best for: busy households, large file transfers and people who want a bundled router, mesh Wi-Fi and 4G back-up.
- Check before ordering: Pro 4 availability at your address and the 24-month price schedule.
